Since I last wrote about the next release from extreme metal icons Dawn of Ashes, anticipation has been heating up among the band’s long-time followers — as well as a new generation of fans — eager for a follow-up to their critically-acclaimed 2016 album THEOPHANY.
Kristof Bathory, the band’s founder and frontman, has been keeping me updated on their progress behind the scenes of DAEMONOLATRY GNOSIS — their seventh full-length release, set to drop June 9 via Metropolis Records.
The band has gone through multiple iterations since they first emerged, but Kristof’s vison has remained steadfast throughout, and his dedication to the tenets of the Left Hand Path [which he discusses at length in this candid interview] continues to inform his songwriting. GNOSIS widens the scope of the band’s already expansive sound, with Mick Kenney of legendary UK metal unit Anaal Nathrakh returning as producer. The end result is a twelve-track journey through a fiery landscape of cinematic black metal.
Here’s a taste of the dark majesty to come, in the form of a lyric video for “Guardians,” the album’s first single:
The band is also launching their “Fire of the Phoenix” tour on April 27 (see the banner below for all dates and venues). Stay tuned here for more news in the near future… and hook up with the band’s official Facebook and Twitter for further album details and ticket info.
