Showtime Announces New TWIN PEAKS Premiere Date!

“That gum you like is going to come back in style!”

It’s a pretty darned good time to be a TWIN PEAKS fan. We saw the vinyl release of Angelo Badalamenti’s original score for the series from Death Waltz / Mondo last year. And coming later this month, we’ll be getting the FIRE WALK WITH ME score from them as well. We’ve been well aware that Showtime has been prepping the new incarnation of the series, which will technically serve as “Season 3.” David Lynch is back and has directed all 18 hours of the revival. Co-creator Mark Frost scripted it. And now we know when the mystery will begin to unveil.

Showtime has posted the above image across all their social media pages. The first episode of the new TWIN PEAKS will air May 21st at 9PM. It’ll be a 2 hour premiere event.

According to the announcement made by Showtime president and CEO David Nevins at the Television Critics Association, following the TV premiere, Showtime subscribers can watch the third and fourth hours of TWIN PEAKS on Showtime’s streaming service, Showtime Anytime, and Showtime On Demand. In the second week on TV, the third and fourth hours will air back-to-back on the network, starting at 9PM. One-hour episodes will air in subsequent weeks. (So that’s…. 17 episodes? Or will the finale also be 2 hours making it 16? Whatever. NEW TWIN PEAKS!)

Kyle MacLachlan reprises his infamous role as Agent Dale Cooper, alongside a huge cast of actors, new and familiar. Of the new episodes, Nevins said, “(the new TWIN PEAKS is a) pure heroin vision of David Lynch, and I am very excited to be putting that out.”

See ya May 21st. We’ll brew the coffee.
