A little more than a year ago, I interviewed my friend and colleague Kristof Bathory, the founder and creative force behind iconic extreme-metal band Dawn of Ashes — as well an avid practitioner of ritual magick and a student of the occult, appointed last year as Ambassador to the Greater Church of Lucifer.
Kristof has been keeping me updated on the band’s progress ever since, and recently revealed to me that Dawn of Ashes is about to unleash their next full-length album DAEMONOLATRY GNOSIS, which like last year’s THEOPHANY and its 2013 predecessor ANATHEMA (one of my all-time favorite industrial metal albums), will be released through legendary label Metropolis Records.
Mick Kenney, best known to extreme-metal fans as co-founder of UK band Anaal Nathrakh, and producer on albums for Bleeding Through, Carnifex and Motionless in White (to name just a few), rejoins DOA as producer on GNOSIS, which will contain twelve tracks of extreme symphonic metal — including a cover of “Freezing Moon,” a 1993 classic from black metal legends Mayhem. More track and personnel details will be announced soon, but for now I can reveal that Cradle of Filth’s Lindsay Schoolcraft will be providing guest vocals.
We’re also hoping Kristof will also join us in the coming months for more conversations about music, movies and magick, and you’ll be hearing more about that as well…
