Ten More 1980s Horror Movies You Likely Haven’t Seen

A few week’s back, we posted a list of rare 1980s horror movies. These were all either under-appreciated, received less-than-stellar distribution deals, or for several of them, they never made it past a VHS release and have long since been forgotten. Check out our prior list here.  And we have added 10 more below, some of which have gained some acclaim in small cult circles, but most are still relatively obscure. It’s time to revisit some of the lesser known gems from the 80s.

SPOOKIES (1986)

There is a loose plot about a sorcerer sacrificing people to save his wife, but the main attraction is the dazzling array of creatures and special effects including poop-looking demons. I used to love this one when I was a kid.

DEMON LOVER DIARY (1980)

This is a documentary- style film that chronicles three filmmakers as they drive to Michigan to make a horror movie. It is stark, funny, endearing, and equally unsettling.

DISCONNECTED (1983)

This is a rather trippy and sometimes confusing flick about twins who are involved in a series of murders. Cool soundtrack with an epic 80s montage!

PIN: A PLASTIC NIGHTMARE (1988)

Just one year after Terry O’Quinn scared the bejeezus out of us in THE STEPFATHER, he once again played a totally twisted Dad in this little piece of dementia. A brother and sister become convinced that an anatomy dummy from their father’s medical practice is actually alive.

976-EVIL (1988)

Directed by Robert Englund, people who dial into a hotline receive powers from Satan and become demonic killers.

EYES OF FIRE (1983)

A group of devout Christian pioneers settle in a desolate valley. They soon suspect someone in their group may be using witchcraft, but the witchcraft is protecting them from something far more evil lurking in the surrounding woods.

BREEDERS (1986)

This one is pure 80s campy T&A horror fun! In New York City, an alien attacks virgins in an attempt to create a spawn.

POSSESSION (1981)

POSSESSION is probably the most well-known film on the list, due in part to KILLER POV/SHOCK WAVES co-host Elric Kane’s long-time attempt to create public awareness for this obscure but incredibly rich film. A woman and her husband are in the midst of a dramatic divorce. He thinks she is having an affair, but there is something far worse going on.

KILLER PARTY (1986)

KILLER PARTY starts in a similar style to the screwball fraternity/sorority comedies like ANIMAL HOUSE or REVENGE OF THE NERDS, except one of the sorority sisters becomes possessed by a demon.

THE SENDER (1982)

A mentally deranged telepathic man is able to send his visions and dreams to other people.
